Bio

Democrat Leland Yee was first elected to the California State Senate in November 2006. He represents California’s 8th Senate District.
Before becoming a senator, Yee was a California State Assemblyman, a San Francisco County supervisor representing San Francisco’s Sunset District, and a member of the San Francisco School Board. While in the state assembly, Yee was the first Asian American to be appointed its Speaker pro Tempore.
